Mission Boosters

Boost your mission to the stars with Moonshot Museum’s Mission Boosters! These thrilling add-ons can launch your experience to new heights, whether onsite or through our Mobile Moonshot programs. Dive deeper into the wonders of space science, design your own mission patch, or put your engineering skills to the test with interactive challenges – all tailored to enhance your cosmic journey.

Small upgrades, infinite possibilities. Mission Boosters make your visit uniquely yours, transforming your space adventure into an unforgettable mission.

Because every great space mission deserves an upgrade!

Onsite Boosters:

3D Moon Vision:
Discover Moon geology with stunning LRO satellite images. Learn how 3D images are created by combining colors and explore how mission control uses this technology to choose safe landing sites for lunar robots. Grade Level: 1st Grade & Up

Star Formation:
Model the process of star formation!  Just add gravity to your nebula, by energizing ping pongs with a hair dryer.  Race the clock to gather enough material to form a star! Grade Level: 5th Grade & Up

Telescope Filters:
Use red and blue filters to view your drawings and learn how space artists use color as information. Explore Moon and nebula images taken with filters to see how stories about the universe are revealed. Grade Level: 3rd Grade & Up

Makey Makey Banana Piano:
Turn bananas into a “Banana Piano” using a Make Makey keyboard emulator. Learn about coding, electricity, and the importance of clean rooms in ensuring spacecraft electronics function properly. Grade Level: K – 8th Grade

Mission Space Board Game:
Become a scientist or engineer as you design a spacecraft in this interactive board game. Collaborate with others to complete a space mission and tackle the challenges of spacecraft development. Grade Level: 4th Grade & Up

Thermal Imaging Camera:
Experiment with a thermal imaging camera to see yourself in infrared. Learn how temperature is conveyed through color and how this technology helps scientists locate ice on the Moon. Grade Level: 5th Grade & Up

Offsite Boosters:

Botleys:
Students will program Botley robots to tackle pathways or navigate obstacle courses, fostering creativity and problem-solving in a fun, hands-on activity. Perfect for inspiring young innovators! Grade Level: 1st – 8th Grade Capacity:  25 students

Design Build Test:
Assemble your own foam block spacecraft, choose the best tools and sensors, and put your design to the test using tabletop shakers and spinners. Discover how spacecraft are engineered to survive the challenges of spaceflight! Grade Level: 1st -4th Grade Capacity:  25 students

Nebula Spin Art:
Create stunning “Hubble views” by adding tempera paints to construction paper in a salad spinner. Spin your way to cosmic art while learning how colors tell stories about the invisible wonders robots can see on the Moon and beyond. Grade Level: 4th Grade & Up Capacity:  25 students

Spectroscopy Carousel:
Explore the glowing colors of electrified gas tubes and use special glasses to view each element’s unique spectrum. Discover how scientists identify elements on the Moon and across the universe through these mesmerizing light displays! Grade Level: 5th Grade & Up Capacity: 25 students

Cost: $125 per program
