Cosmic Careers 1: Mission to the Moon
Go behind the scenes to follow a robotic lunar lander’s journey from blueprint to build, while discovering the wide range of careers shaping today’s space industry. This engaging session includes a Q&A with a professional from Astrobotic, highlighting how talents from all fields—from biology to art—have a place in space.
Earth Quest (VIRTUAL)
Blast into orbit on a mission to explore Planet Earth. Discover how the latest space missions are taking the pulse of our planet, from ocean chemistry to forest canopies to bird migrations. Learn how college students are designing and building teams of small satellites to inform global conservation efforts.
Moon Rangers
Early learners blast off with an interactive Moon-themed storytime led by a Moonshot educator, using sound and movement to bring the adventure to life. The journey ends with a view of a real spacecraft under construction and a creative classroom activity to imagine the next page in space exploration.
From Apollo to Artemis
Learn about Pittsburgh's leading role in returning to the Moon. Trace the evolution of spacecraft, spacesuits, and navigation from our first steps in the Apollo era, to exciting new achievements on the horizon with today's Artemis program.
Earth Quest
Launch into orbit on a mission to explore Earth as seen from space, uncovering how satellites track everything from ocean chemistry to bird migration. Students will also learn how local college teams are building small satellites to support real-world conservation efforts around the globe.
TEAM II Cosmic Careers (Planetarium Show)
In this immersive planetarium experience, students become the crew designing and flying robots to the Moon, guided by real video clues from local space experts. Surrounded by a 360-degree spacecraft factory and transported to a virtual Mission Control, they’ll roleplay a lunar mission—selecting the right robot, equipping it, and flying it across the Moon’s surface.
Space Debates
Step into the shoes of space policy leaders, exploring real-world challenges and opportunities through interactive demonstrations and role-play. As members of a “Cosmic City Council,” they debate issues from Earth orbit to Moon base life—tackling topics like law, ecology, immigration, and governance in space.
Mission to the Moon (Small Groups)
Students will blast off with a dynamic presentation featuring Moon geography, thrilling science demonstrations, audience participation, and a close-up look at real lunar spacecraft. Afterward, they’ll rotate through one or two hands-on STEM stations from the National Informal STEM Education Network, with bilingual instructions and volunteer-friendly setup.
Hello Moon! Mobile Storytime
Young explorers join a Moonshot educator for an interactive space-themed storytime filled with sound, movement, and imagination. The adventure ends with a look at a real lunar spacecraft under construction and a creative classroom activity to inspire their own “next page” in space exploration.

Lunar Engineers
Construct the future! In our most hands-on program, students will partake in small group engineering challenges to design humanity’s future on the lunar surface. Participants will work beside the clean room, where engineers and technicians are building the next lunar explorers!
